Name: Michael Massing
What drew you to join the chorus?
For various reasons, I had stopped singing and had been disconnected from a queer community for quite some time. HGMC seemed like a handy twofer.
What do you enjoy the most about being in this chorus?
Singing—particularly bringing joy, reflection, connection, and meaning to audiences.
What value does being in the chorus bring to your life?
I have a social home, and I get to be challenged to grow as a musician and as a person.
Why is music/arts important to you?
I can live too much in my head. The arts offer different perspectives and visions, and to that music can add transcendence.
What is an interesting fact you would like our audience to know about you?
I was once kissed on the neck by Allen Ginsberg.
